Blind theatre group

Beyond Vision

Earlier this year a group of people with varying visual impairments started a theatre group called Beyond Vision. They’ve just been given a grant from Accessible Arts to run an interactive workshop as part of the ‘Don’t DIS my ABILITY’ campaign next month. They’ll be inviting the public in to experience what’s it’s like to have a vision impairment on the stage. They’re hoping to raise awareness as well as share their stories. The first group of its kind in Australia, they’re here to show that while they can’t see, their need for artistic expression is no different to everyone else. Jemma Castle went to one of their rehearsals and caught up with the group.
